چکیده

We present high angular resolution observations with the Keck Interferometer, high-dispersion spectroscopic observations with Keck/NIRSPEC, and near-IR photometric observations from PAIRITEL of a sample of 11 solartype T Tauri stars in nine systems. We use these observations to probe the circumstellar material within 1 AU of these young stars, measuring the circumstellar-to-stellar flux ratios and angular size scales of the 2.2 m emission. Our sample spans a range of stellar luminosities and mass accretion rates, allowing investigation of potential correlations between inner disk properties and stellar or accretion properties. We suggest that the mechanism by which the dusty inner disk is truncated may depend on the accretion rate of the source; in objects with low accretion rates, the stellar magnetospheres may truncate the disks, while sublimation may truncate dusty disks around sources with higher accretion rates. We have also included in our sample objects that are known to be highly variable (based on previous photometric and spectroscopic observations), and for several sources, we obtainedmultiple epochs of spectroscopic and interferometric data, supplemented by near-IR photometric monitoring, to search for inner disk variability. While timevariable veilings and accretion rates are observed in some sources, no strong evidence for inner disk pulsation is found. Subject headinggs: circumstellar matter — stars: individual (AA Tau, BM And, CI Tau, DI Cep, DK Tau, RW Aur, V1002 Sco, V1331 Cyg) — stars: preYmain-sequence — techniques: high angular resolution — techniques: interferometric

Observations of T Tauri Disks at Sub-AU Radii: Implications for Magnetospheric Accretion and Planet Formation

We determine inner disk sizes and temperatures for four solar-type (1-2 M⊙) classical T Tauri stars (AS 207A, V2508 Oph, AS 205A, and PX Vul) using 2.2 μm observations from the Keck Interferometer. Nearly contemporaneous near-IR adaptive optics imaging photometry, optical photometry, and high-dispersion optical spectroscopy are used to distinguish contributions from the inner disks and central ...

Unveiling the Inner Disk Structure of T Tauri Stars

We present near-infrared spectra of the excess continuum emission from the innermost regions of classical T Tauri disks. In almost all cases, the shape of the excess is consistent with that of a single-temperature blackbody with T ∼ 1400 K, similar to the expected dust sublimation temperature for typical dust compositions. The amount of excess flux roughly correlates with the accretion luminosi...

On the Interferometric Sizes of Young Stellar Objects

Long-baseline optical interferometers can now detect and resolve hot dust emission thought to arise at the inner edge of circumstellar disks around young stellar objects (YSOs). We argue that the near-infrared sizes being measured are closely related to the radius at which dust is sublimated by the stellar radiation field. We consider how realistic dust optical properties and gas opacity dramat...

Imf from Infrared Photometry of Young Stellar Clusters in Taurus-auriga and Orion

We applied the extinction-disk-principal vectors approach to near infrared photometric data of the Taurus-Auriga region and Orion Nebula young stellar clusters. By assuming that the cluster age is represented by the median value of the age distribution we are able to derive the distribution of stellar masses. We showed that the resulting initial mass function (IMF) for these two young stellar c...

Se p 20 05 Investigating Disk Evolution : A High Spatial Resolution Mid - Infrared Survey of T Tauri Stars McCabe

We present a high spatial resolution, 10–20 µm survey of 65 T Tauri binary stars in Taurus, Ophiuchus, and Corona Australis using the Keck 10 m telescopes. Designed to probe the inner ∼1 AU region of the circumstellar disks around the individual stellar components in these binary systems, this study increases the number of binaries with spatially resolved measurements at 10 µm by a factor of ∼5...
